| Toastmaster |
Table Topics Master |
General Evaluator |
| The Toastmaster is the master of ceremonies for the meeting. It is the Toastmaster's task to introduce each speaker, and form a bridge between the various parts of the meeting, and keep the meeting running on schedule. |
The Table Topics Master helps members increase extemporaneous speaking skills by asking members to speak for one to two minutes about a surprise topic. The Table Topics Master is responsible for selecting the theme of the meeting, which is also used as the topic for the impromptu speeches. |
The General Evaluator leads the evaluation section of the meeting, and is responsible for introducing the members of the evaluation team (Speech Evaluators, Ah Counter, etc.). The General Evaluator also evaluates the overall meeting, and (if time permits) gives a brief evaluation to each of the speech evaluators. |

Table Topics Participants |
Speech Evaluators |
| Speakers present prepared speeches. Toastmasters International's communication manuals provide structure and guidance to improve skills such as organization, vocabulary, vocal variety, and body language. |
Table Topics participants are called upon by the Table Topics Master to present a 1-2 minute speech on a specific topic. This activity helps build extemporaneous speaking skills, which are extremely valuable in the business world. |
Speech Evaluators provide constructive feedback in oral and written form. Evaluations are highly encouraging, and provide a positive learning experience for all. |

| Supporting Roles |
| Ah Counter |
Timer |
Vote Counter |
| The Ah Counter records grammatical errors and unnecessary filler words (such as "ah", "um", etc.), which helps us become aware of poor speaking habits. The Ah Counter also presents a new or unusual word for us to learn, which helps us to increase our vocabulary. At the end of the meeting the Ah Counter reports on the frequency of filler words and the word of the day. |
The Timer records the length of each person's speech and provides a visual sign to the speaker that allotted time is about to expire. Toastmasters speeches and reports are carefully planned to fit specific time periods. The Timer reports the speech time periods at the end of the meeting. |
The Vote Counter tallies the ballots for Best Speaker, Best Table Topic, Best Evaluator, Firecracker, and Best of the "Big Three". The Vote Counter does not vote, except to break a tie. At the end of the meeting, the Vote Counter presents the awards to the winners. |
